Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day.
Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime.

It was in that spirit that I wrote my last post on gradients, which was intended to bring you up to speed in making quick, simple gradient backgrounds within PowerPoint. But, you know what? Sometimes you really just want someone to give you a fish, not give you extensive lessons on rods, reels, and tackle. And it is in this spirit that I present to you nine free gradient backgrounds that are better* than what you can make in PowerPoint (Click the thumbnails to view the backgrounds in full-size, then right-click to save them):

*How are these better than what you can make in PowerPoint? Well, the main way is that the gradient is at about 15 degrees from the vertical and to the left. This is generally more pleasing to look at and it has the advantage of matching nicely with any drop shadows you may choose to add. It might seem like matching the perceived light sources is a small thing, and in a way it is, but when small things like disparate light sources add up, it leaves the audience with a feeling of unease. There is more information about the advantages of using gradients such as these on the 9rules blog, whose tutorial I followed in making these.
